Son Calls 911 After Dad Can’t Stop Making “Six-Seven” Jokes

Reading Time: < 1 minutes

DES MOINES, IA — Local authorities confirmed Tuesday that a 911 call was placed by a concerned 9-year-old boy after his father spent nearly 45 uninterrupted minutes making the same joke about “six seven” and refusing to stop.

According to the emergency call transcript, the child calmly explained to the dispatcher that his dad “keeps saying six seven like it’s funny” and “won’t explain why,” adding that attempts to ignore it only seemed to encourage further joking.

“He just keeps saying it,” the boy reportedly said. “Like, someone will say a number and then he goes, ‘Yeah, but what about six seven?’ And then he laughs. Every time.”

The situation escalated after the father began inserting the phrase into unrelated conversations, including dinner plans, homework help, and a discussion about the weather.

“I asked him what time it was,” the child said. “He said, ‘About six seven o’clock,’ and then laughed again.”

Responding officers found the father on the couch, visibly pleased with himself and mid-joke.

“I don’t see the problem,” the man told police. “It’s funny. It’s still funny. And honestly, the fact that it’s annoying now makes it even funnier.”

Police determined no laws had been broken but issued a verbal warning, advising the father to “give it a rest” and “maybe retire the bit.”

At press time, the father was overheard whispering “six… seven…” under his breath, while the son reportedly began looking up the non-emergency number “just in case.”
