Washington State Declares Republicans as Virtually Extinct

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Olympia, WA – The population of Western Washington Republicans is falling to dangerously low levels. According to the Republican Refuge Foundation (RRF) there is believed to be less than 50,000 Republicans left on the west side of the state. This makes the party virtually extinct in Western Washington.

Western Washington is comprised of 19 counties on the west side of the Cascade Mountain range. The RRF revealed that they have monitored these counties and say Lewis County is the only deep red county left. “It’s a tragedy,” said RRF chairman Doug Traffy.

According to the RRF, disease, deforestation, climate change, Tim Eyman and Donald Trump are the biggest threats to Republicans and their habitat. “Climate change has drowned most Republicans because they can’t swim to higher ground,” said Traffy.

Traffy pleaded with Gov. Jay Inslee to help with the survival of the dying party. “I know Gov. Inslee and the public are extremely concerned about the well being and safety of Republicans in Western Washington. It is time for the government to respect Republicans and their habitat,” said Traffy.

While the exact number of Republicans remaining cannot be determined by the RRF, once the Republican population falls below a critical number, they can no longer produce the next generation of Republicans, which would result in absolute extinction of the party.

“The RRF thinks there are less than 50,000 Republicans on the west side. This is less than 1% of the 5.5 million people that live in that side of the state,” Traffy added.

Tally called on Gov. Inslee to enact the Western Washington Republican Protection Act, saying, “The act has been written and ready to go since 2016 when Trump won the presidency. This gave us a false glimmer of hope for Western Washington Republicans. The plight and despair of Republicans now falls on Inslee’s shoulders.”

When asked if he’ll sign the act, Inslee said he probably won’t because he doesn’t feel like it. “I’m concerned when certain species become extinct, like the Spotted Owl, Marbled Murrelet and banana slugs. But some species just need to go away,” said Inslee. “I have a much better idea. We’re going to relocate them to Eastern Washington to their true natural habitat. This is much like we did when we moved mountain goats from the Olympics to the North Cascades. It’s the best solution for everyone, especially Democrats.”

The RRF will soon launch a website to raise awareness about the decline in the Western Washington Republican species and to provide resources and money to those who want to help with the plight of the rare species.
